International Travel
International Travel with MCHS
Michigan City High School has several educational travel experiences planned for students! When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for the global citizens of tomorrow!
All trips will be open to students who will be entering grades 9-12 at the time of the trip, and those who are recent graduates at the time of the trip. Some trips also include students in grades 6-8. For more details and to see which trips are available, please review the details below or check with your school.

Summer 2025
Berlin, Prague, Krakow, and Budapest
Description: Travel through the Iron Curtain and World War II to Gothic cathedrals and ancient cities that are now more vibrant than ever. Berlin mixes historical significance, rich culture and an exciting cosmopolitan energy. Prague, which escaped the bombs of World War II, woos you with old-world charm. And in Krakow and Budapest, two of Europe's most underrated cities, architectural gems await around every corner. Places we visit include: Brandenburg Gate, Kurfürstendamm, The Berlin Wall, Potsdam, Desden, St. Vitus Cathedral, Golden Lane, Charles Bridge, Wawel Cathedral, Wawel Hill, Glowny Square, Auschwitz, Birkenau, Tatra Mountains, Fisherman’s Bastion, Hungarian Parliament building, the Budapest Baths and much more.

Ecuador: The Galapagos Islands and Quito
Description: Your perspective on the world evolves when you walk in Darwin's footsteps on this fascinating archipelago! On Isabela, Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal islands, observe the giant tortoises, finches, and mockingbirds that helped solidify Darwin's theory of evolution. On mainland Ecuador, the discoveries are more culturally oriented at Quito's Independence Plaza, the Intiñan Museum and Otavalo.

Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
Date: Summer 2026 (July 21-29, 2026)
Open to current MCAS students in grades 6-11
Description: Immersed in Alpine landscapes and rich cultural history, you’ll quickly understand why these countries have inspired artists for centuries. Explore the expansive German countryside that inspired Beethoven to write his nine symphonies. Learn more about World War II by visiting Dachau -- the first concentration camp set up by the Nazi government in 1933. Who knows? Experiencing the historical richness of Germany & the beauty of the Alps might kindle a yearning to understand and explore more of the world!

Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam
Date: Summer 2026
Open to current MCAS students in grades 8 -12
Description: An exciting opportunity to travel to Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand will offer a blend of cultural exploration, historical learning, and scenic beauty. Travelers will visit vibrant cities, ancient temples, and bustling markets. Highlights include exploring Ho Chi Minh City's historical sites, experiencing the grandeur of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, and enjoying the cultural treasures of Bangkok, including the Grand Palace and Chao Phraya River. Optional extensions include relaxing in Hua Hin with visits to caves and national parks. This immersive journey promises unforgettable moments and a deeper appreciation of Southeast Asia's rich heritage.
